James and Mary Williams arrived in Geelong on 11
November 1857.
On 11 November 2007, being the 150th anniversary of their arrival in Australian,
descendants of James and Mary gathered in Geelong. This was the first
extended family gathering held for forty years and around 80 descendants and
family members participated.

and Mary Williams of Westport, Somerset, with his wife Mary (to James'
right) who emigrated to Australia in 1857. Three of James and Mary's children were pioneers in the Apollo Bay area: James (top left - selected land at Tanybryn); Elizabeth (on James' left - married Albert Stanford, selected land at the highest point between Tanybryn and Skenes Creek, later had the Elderslie Guest House in Apollo Bay) and Ada (front left - married Alexander Pinkerton - had land near Barramunga).
